Hi, I'm Kara.

Hi, I'm Kara.

I am a Birth Doula, certified Postpartum Doula & Placenta Specialist, and I feel grateful to be entering into the calling of birth & postpartum work.

My path to birth work began with an interest in plant medicine and holistic health at 10 years old thanks to my best friends mother. I learned through witnessing her passions, hearing her stories and lessons, and how she carried herself that true wellness is rooted in the understanding that physical, mental, spiritual and relational aspects of life all take part in affecting your overall health, and being unwell in one aspect affects you in others. As a young adult, I enrolled in The Heart and Science of Herbalism and also began to study Ayurveda, TCM, Yoga, and other Eastern Wisdom healing modalities. While studying health and wellness, Spiritual Midwifery, by Ina May Gaskin fatefully made it into my hands. This book was the turning point toward this heart filling work.

Through my own cycles of being unwell in one of the previously named aspects or another, combined with the lessons I learned in life and my studies, I was placed on the path of self inquiry and self love. That which I have learned is the center of how I show up in my practice as a full spectrum doula; centering love, compassion, and the understanding that every being is whole. You came to this earth exactly as you were meant to.  You are loved. And you are enough

The next phase of my personal and professional journey is to deepen my understanding of trauma and the many ways it shows up for people navigating their reproductive wellness. I believe is necessary as a doula and aspiring home birth midwife to have an understanding of the many facets of trauma so I can show up for those I serve authentically,  compassionately & with the capacity to meet them where they are in their healing journey.

Pregnancy, birth and parenting can be overwhelming. But it can also be beautiful.

My intention is to hold the hands of those I serve as they grow, evolve, transform, and experience the beauty of this sacred rite of passage.
